A standing shift may involve long periods with very little walking. That means a shoe selected only for a smooth forward stride has not yet answered the whole workday problem. Include stationary tasks, small turns and the floor surface when comparing candidates. Consider opportunities to change position and take breaks as well as footwear; a shoe purchase does not replace the other arrangements that make a standing job manageable.
Check the end-of-shift setup
Use the socks and any prescribed insert intended for work. Look for localized pressure at the arch, sides or collar when standing still as well as moving. If permitted, make an initial work trial short enough to change into a familiar pair instead of committing to a complete shift. Workplace requirements come first, including any documented protective or slip-resistant features. Once those are met, prefer a fit you can assess calmly over a claim that the softest or most heavily contoured model must be best.
